Village of Ossining Announces Village Manager Decision

Interim Village Manager Linda Abels to Be Appointed

(August 9, 2005) Village of Ossining Mayor Eugene Napolitano announced the decision of the Ossining Village Board to appoint Interim Village Manager Linda Abels to the position of Village Manager.

Abels has been serving as Ossining’s interim manager since the resignation of former Village Manager Lynn McCrum in February of this year.

“We completed an extensive and widespread search and had several qualified candidates to choose from.  However, none matched Linda’s ability, management skill and in-depth knowledge of the workings of our community,” Napolitano commented.

Trustee Catherine Borgia concurs, “Linda has excellent managerial skills and has run the village very capably since her appointment to the interim post in February.  Her long history and attachment to Ossining makes her an excellent candidate for the position of Village Manager.”

Abels will be formally appointed in September.  Currently the Village has a local law that requires the Village Manager to reside within the Town of Ossining.  At the next Board meeting, the Village will propose an amendment to its code to permit the Village Manager to reside within Westchester County. The appointment will be made after the residency requirement is changed.
