Environmental Advisory Council

The Environmental Advisory Council advises the Board of Trustees on matters affecting the preservation, development and use of the natural and man-made features and conditions of the Village; conduct studies, surveys and inventories of the Village’s natural and man-made features; maintain an up-to-date inventory of all open spaces within the Village; maintain communications with public and private agencies whose activities have an impact on the quality of the environment; and such other duties as may be assigned by the Board of Trustees. Pursuant to Chapter 262 of the Village Code, the EAC shall make recommendations to the Board of Trustees, Planning Board or Zoning Board of Appeals regarding whether a proposed action is consistent with the Villages Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (“LWRP”). The EAC is also designated as an interested agency for the review of Environmental Impact Statements under State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA).

Term of Office 2 Year Term

Membership/ Appointment 7 members, appointed by the Board of Trustees; Under Local Law 9-2017, members to serve no more than two consecutive terms and must have 75% attendance.
