Village of Ossining Announces New Village Manager

Ossining, N.Y. (April 7, 2015) – The Village of Ossining is pleased to announce the appointment of Abraham Zambrano as Village Manager. Mr. Zambrano, who assumes the role on Wednesday, May 27, will take over for Richard Leins, who served the Village for more than a decade and retired after a six-year tenure in the position.

Nestled along the Hudson River, Ossining is a culturally diverse, affordable place to live, rich in both history and natural beauty. Approximately 25,600 people reside in the three and one half square miles of this historic Village, which boasts extensive shopping, dining and recreational programs; an award-winning school system; excellent municipal services; and easy access to mass transit. 

As the Chief Executive and Administrative Officer, Abraham Zambrano will be responsible for the daily operations of the Village and Village Departments, including oversight of 171 full-time employees. He was formerly the Village Manager of the Village of Croton on Hudson, a position he held since January 2008. Prior to being appointed Village Manager, Mr. Zambrano served as Croton’s Village Treasurer/Deputy Manager and has also worked for the Villages of Briarcliff Manor, Ossining and Sleepy Hollow. He is fluent in Spanish.

Currently Vice President of the Westchester County Municipal Administrators Association, Mr. Zambrano is a member of various other local, state and national professional organizations including the International City/County Managers Association, NYS Managers Association, Government Financial Officers Association, NYS Government Financial Officers Association, and the Westchester County Municipal Clerks and Financial Officers Association.

Mr. Zambrano sits on the Board of Directors of the Energy Improvement Corporation and serves as the Comptroller of Sustainable Westchester. He is a member of the Buchanan-Cortlandt-Croton-on-Hudson 9-11 Remembrance Memorial Foundation, the Mid-Hudson Ambulance District, and the Town of Cortlandt’s Roundabout District Task Force. Mr. Zambrano received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Herbert H. Lehman College and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Pace University. He and his wife, Patricia, have two sons and three granddaughters.
