SNOW ALERT

Dear Ossining Residents,

 

With the impending snow fall, the Village of Ossining's Department of Public Works is prepared and ready to plow and salt roads as necessary to make our roads as safe as possible during and after the snowfall. 

 

The latest report, at the time this message is sent out,  estimates snowfall in the Ossining area to be 1"-4" of snow.  The southern portion of Westchester County will  have 4"-9" of total accumulation.  Snow is predicted to begin around 9:00am on Saturday morning and will continue until approximately 7:00am on Sunday.  The snow is expected to be dry and powder-like with a compaction ratio of approximately 12:1 (12" of snow to 1" of water); not wet and heavy.  There may also be periods of moderate winds throughout the day and evening. 

 

ConEdison is encouraging customers who experience power outages to call 1-800-75-CONED or report the outage online to www.coned.com. 

Please report any down wires as well - and keep in mind, downed wires may be covered in snow. 

 

The Joseph G. Caputo Community Center at 95 Broadway will be open as an emergency shelter.  If you or someone you know has difficulties or specials needs that need special attention and consideration in the event of a weather emergency, please call the Police Department at (914) 941-4099.
