Tonight, April 27, B-Ballin for PeaceOssining Community Center, 7 - 11pm.  A 3-on-3 basketball tournament designed by OHS students to help raise awareness about the stringent new gun laws, student teams of 3 players will compete in a tournament.  No registration required, just show up with your 3-person team before 7 pm to be eligible to play. Winning team will receive Mets or Yankees tickets.  The Event will be followed by a Pool Party/ Dance in the Community Center. All are encouraged to attend.  Co-sponsored by the Westchester County DA’s office, Ossining CAP, the Ossining Rec. Dept and Ossining Communities That Care. Tonight, April 27, Ossining PTA John Starks Shoot-Out fundraiser, Brookside School Gymnasium, 5:30-9:00pm The PTA is looking for boys and girls from each grade to shoot against former NY Knick All-Star, John Starks! Individual: $15.00 -- This single ticket buys one preliminary round entry; admission to Finals Day (May 4); and one camp raffle ticket (over $400 value). Family: $25.00 -- The entire family can attend all of the events listed above. Additional shooters in your family cost $5.00 each. Finals Night will be May 4th at 7pm, OHS Gymnasium All grades welcome! Adults can play, too!

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has arrived in Westchester and is working with Westchester County government to help local residents apply for federal aid to recover from the nor’easter storm of April 14 & 15

To register for aid, storm victims will need to take the following steps:
1) Contact your insurance company: If you are NOT covered for the storm damage by your insurance company, you may be eligible for federal aid. You will need to obtain a letter from your insurance company saying you are not covered for damage from the storm. 
2) Register for FEMA aid: To receive any aid, you must take this first step and register for aid. Go to their Web site at www.fema.gov or call 1-800-621-FEMA (1-800-621-3362) (hearing/speech impaired ONLY- call TTY: 1-800-462-7585) between the hours of 8 am to 8 pm.  You may have to wait when you call, so you may want to try early in the morning or late in the evening. But make sure you keep trying and register.  For additional information, please check the FEMA website or the Westchester County website.

The Village of Ossining has named Matt Galligan as Village Manager upon the May 14 retirement of Linda Abels, who leaves Ossining after a long and distinguished career of service to the village. Please join us in welcoming him to the village.

 

Call for Artists: We are in the planning stages for our second Ossining Arts Festival to be held in conjunction with the Ferry-Go-Round on September 29. Display space for artists is available at a minimum charge. Please call Catherine Borgia at 262-8873 if you would like more information.

Town Crier Committee…The Village of Ossining is exploring the idea of creating a Town Crier Committee and is seeking volunteers to serve on same.  This committee would reach out to the people of Ossining, connecting our diverse population personally through various creative avenues and meetings and would also serve as a sounding board to the trustees.  Anyone interested in serving on this committee should send a letter of interest to the Ossining Village Manager’s Office, 16 Croton Avenue, Ossining.
