Trinity Church will host its annual "African Festival Celebration" Saturday, August 11th from 6pm - 11pm with authentic West African food, music and fellowship. Tickets are $20 in advance; $25 at the door. Contact Flavius Jusu-Davies (941-1095) for tickets and more information.
Ossining Public Library August exhibit: "Art Moves" the work of students, children and adult from the Croton-Cortlandt center for the Arts. Now through August 31. Reception on the 31st from 3:30 - 5 p.m. OPL September Exhibit: "Autumn into Spring". Photographic study by James McLoughlin September 4- 30.
Ossining Matters 5K Trail Race and 2 Mile Walk to benefit Ossining MATTERS Education Foundation will be held on Saturday, September 8th. The race kicks off at 9:00 a.m. at the Double Arch at the Old Croton Aqueduct adjacent to the Caputo Community Center 95 Broadway, registration on-line and by mail, race day registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Caputo Community Center, for further information visit the website www.OssiningMATTERS.org.
There will be an informational meeting on Community Land Trusts for Housing, Saturday, September 8th at 11:00 a.m. at the Joseph G. Caputo Community Center, 95 Broadway. All residents are invited to attend.
Special Benefit Concert to be held on September 8th, 2007 from 2-4 p.m. in the theater at OssiningPublic Library. Seniors Oliva Oppedisano and members of High Voltage: Max Gulian, Lee Saper, Jesse McCormick, Scott Peller and Jake Schofield, will perform at a gala fund-raising event to raise money for the scholarship fund in the name of Noah Woodley -Aitchison. This scholarship is awarded to OHS seniors at the end of their senior year. This concert will raise money for the fund and help those awarded with their educational expenses. Singer/songwriter Fred Gillen, Jr. will be master of ceremonies for this special Saturday afternoon concert.
The Ossining High School class of 1952 in conjunction with the Ossining Public Library has invited Douglas Parker, a 1952 alum to speak at the library on Saturday, September 15th @ 2:00 p.m.about his biography on Ogden Nash titled: "Ogden Nash: The Life and Work of America's Laureate of Light Verse." Doug's talk will describe his experience in writing the book, published in 2005, recount some of the highlights of Nash's life including stints as a Hollywood screenwriter, lyricist on and off Broadway and performer on radio and TV, and he will read excerpts from some of Nash's most provocative and entertaining verse. The talk will take place in the theater on the lower level.
Call for Artists: The Ossining’s Treasures an Arts Festival is scheduled for Sunday, September 16.Display space for artists is available at a minimum charge and food vendors are welcome. Pardon Our Appearance…you may have noticed construction materials and/or piping on Belleview Avenue, Browning Drive, Clinton Avenue, Linden Avenue, Noel Drive, Oakhill Terrace, Overton Road, Underhill Road, Upper Eastern and Walden Road. This is due to a water main cleaning and lining project that the Village is undertaking. The project will clean and re-line water mains that service some areas of the Village and will ensure delivery of clean, potable water for many years to come. As with any project of this magnitude, there will be some slight inconvenience and we appreciate your patience. If you are on any of the streets listed above you may see bypass water pipes laid above ground to service homes as well as to provide for fire protection. These lines usually run on top of the curb line and will have to cross driveways and roadways at various locations. There are also access pits in roadways to allow the Village’s contractor to clean and cement line the mains. Work is anticipated to continue until late fall.

Greater Ossining Television (GO-TV), your local public access TV station, is conducting a survey to determine how we can better serve the local community. Copies of the survey are available in the Library, The Joseph G. Caputo Community Center or in the Village Manager’s Office at 16 Croton Avenue. Please take the time to complete the very brief questionnaire so that GOTV may be better able to serve the community.
OHS Raymond Hughes Scholarship – Help Wanted A volunteer is needed to help expand the scholarship committee’s scope in the development of donors. The committee is looking for someone who can visit the high school, review the Wizards on file, and take off the names of the class officers from 1946 through 1970 so they can be contacted to request their help in soliciting, through their classes, additional donations for the Raymond Hughes Scholarship. The Ossining Farmers Market is open The market runs each Saturday through December 15th from 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. Located at Market Square corner of Main and Spring St. Come to the market to buy farm fresh foods from the Hudson Valley.
