Call for Artists: We are in the planning stages for our second Ossining Arts Festival to be held on Sunday, Sept 16. Display space for artists is available at a minimum charge. Please call Catherine Borgia at 262-8873 if you would like more information.
Town Crier Committee…The Village of Ossining is exploring the idea of creating a Town Crier Committee and is seeking volunteers to serve on same. This committee would reach out to the people of Ossining, connecting our diverse population personally through various creative avenues and meetings and would also serve as a sounding board to the trustees. Anyone interested in serving on this committee should send a letter of interest to the Ossining Village Manager’s Office, 16 Croton Avenue, Ossining.
We need you to attend the Comprehensive Plan Recommendation Meetings June 4 and June 11: 7:30 p.m. at the Ossining High School Cafeteria. A draft of recommendations for the Comprehensive Plan has been developed. Please come to learn about the recommendations as well as provide us feedback. The June 4th meeting will review recommendations for Affordable Housing and Infrastructure (including Water Resources, Traffic, and Transportation). The June 11th meeting will review recommendations for Waterfront and Downtown Development and Redevelopment, Historic Preservation; and Neighborhood Concerns (including Overcrowding and Residential Zoning Requirements). Library Seeks Trustees: The Ossining Public Library's Board of Trustees is seeking applicants to join the library's governing board which sets policies and proposes the library's budget. One five-year term expires June 30, and the board expects approval from the State Education Department to expand the Board from five members to seven. Candidates are requested to send a concise letter explaining their interest and relevant experience, and a short resume to Joan Hraban, Acting Director, Ossining Public Library, 53 Croton Ave. Ossining NY 10562, or by e-mail. The 17th year of the Ossining Farmers Market opens for the season on Saturday, June 2nd. 8:30am-2pm. Sponsored by the Greater Ossining Chamber of Commerce. Located at Market Square corner of Main and Spring St. Buy Farm Fresh Foods from the Hudson Valley. No market during Ossining Street Fair on June 9th. The market returns June 16th and runs through December 15th. Shop for vegetables, fruit, organic produce, pasture raised meats, and specialty foods. Info here.

Ossining Historical Society 3rd Annual Community Picnic – Rain or Shine, June 16th 2:00 – 8:00 p.m., Ryder Park. Tickets must be purchased in advance and are $25.00 per person, children under 12 are $5.00 each. For additional information call the Historical Society at 941-0001.
Annual Portuguese Festival is scheduled for June 16th, beginning at 12:00 p.m. Main Street, all are invited to attend to enjoy music, dancing and food at this cultural celebration.
