At 7 pm, tonight the OHS boys’ lacrosse team will play at home against Croton in the opening round of the annual Crown Trophy Hudson River Classic. The Booster Club will have a concession stand at the game. Come out and see some exciting lacrosse under the lights. At 5 pm, Sleepy Hollow will play Briarcliff.  

 

Also at 7 pm tonight, The PTA-Knicks John Starks fundraiser extravaganza is in the OHS gym. John Starks will shoot against students and parents in what promises to be a fun evening for all. Come out and support the PTA.

 

The Village of Ossining has named Matt Galligan as Village Manager upon the May 14 retirement of Linda Abels, who leaves Ossining after a long and distinguished career of service to the village. Please join us in welcoming him to the village.

 

Call for Artists: We are in the planning stages for our second Ossining Arts Festival to be held in conjunction with the Ferry-Go-Round on September 29. Display space for artists is available at a minimum charge. Please call Catherine Borgia at 262-8873 if you would like more information.

Town Crier Committee…The Village of Ossining is exploring the idea of creating a Town Crier Committee and is seeking volunteers to serve on same.  This committee would reach out to the people of Ossining, connecting our diverse population personally through various creative avenues and meetings and would also serve as a sounding board to the trustees.  Anyone interested in serving on this committee should send a letter of interest to the Ossining Village Manager’s Office, 16 Croton Avenue, Ossining.

 

Historic Sing Sing Prison Presentation – Tuesday, May 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Ossining Public Library.  Community members are encouraged to attend to learn more about the project.

 

On May 11, 6:30 p.m, please come to the Ossining Boat and Canoe Club for the first annual meeting/fundraiser for the Ossining MicroFund, the newest nonprofit Ossining safety net organization that has lent out over $5000 over the past year in small, interest-free loans to Ossining residents to help them overcome one-time financial obstacles.  If you cannot attend, consider making a contribution to this organization.  Call Catherine Borgia at 262-8873 for more details.

 

Annual Ossining School Budget Vote for the 2007-2008 school year will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2007, 7 a.m.- 9 p.m. All registered voters vote at the Ossining High School, 29 South Highland Avenue.

Ossining Historical Society 3rd Annual Community Picnic – Rain or Shine, June 16th 2:00 – 8:00 p.m., Ryder Park. Tickets must be purchased in advance and are $25.00 per person, children under 12 are $5.00 each. For additional information call the Historical Society at 941-0001. 

 

Annual Portuguese Festival is scheduled for June 16th, beginning at 5:00 p.m. Main Street, all are invited to attend to enjoy music, dancing and food at this cultural celebration.
