The Village of Ossining has named Matt Galligan as Village Manager upon the May 14 retirement of Linda Ables, who leaves Ossining after a long and distinguished career of service to the village. Please join us in welcoming him to the village.

Call for Artists: We are in the planning stages for our second Ossining Arts Festival to be held in conjunction with the Ferry-Go-Round on September 29. Display space for artists is available for artists at a minimum charge. Please call Catherine Borgia at 262-8873 if you would like more information.

Sunday, April 22: Sparta Park Cleanup Day, 12-4 pm. No need to register, just show up! There will be equipment, gloves, rakes, etc, or you can bring your own. What better way to celebrate Earth Day? For further information call Ossining Recreation and Parks at 941-3189.

Sunday April 22: St Paul's On the Hill Jazz Series continues with Huston Person, tenor sax. Two shows: 7:00 PM and 8:45 PM. Tickets are available at the door, $20 at the door for Adults; $10 with college ID; $6 for those under 18. For more information call: Fr. Stephen Holton (914) 941-6627.

The Comprehensive Plan Community Meeting on Quality of Life Issues will be held Thursday, April 26th at 7:30 pm, Ossining Community Center.  All are invited to attend. 

OHS's Drama Club production of Little Shop of Horrors will be performed Thursday-Sunday, April 26-29. Free, but donations are graciously accepted for future productions! For additional information check the website here.

B-Ballin For Peace Basketball Tourney to Raise Awareness of New Stringent Gun Laws Strengthen Community Ties: Ossining Recreation and Ossining Community Action Program (CAP) will host a basketball tournament, on Friday, April 27, from 7-10 pm, at the Joseph G. Caputo Community Center, 95 Broadway, Ossining.  The 3-on-3 tournament will feature youths ages 16-20. From 9 pm to midnight the pool will be open for a pool party and DJ from 9 to midnight.  Food will be supplied and the pool will be open until 10:30.  DJ until 12 pm in the gym to follow games.  Nachos, hotdogs and soda will be free. Ossining High School students designed the program to be a community-wide youth event.  The Ossining tournament is the first of several being held around Westchester County to help raise awareness about the new stringent gun laws that call for automatic sentencing of anyone found in possession of an illegal gun.  The Westchester County District Attorney’s Office and Ossining Communities That Care are also co sponsoring the event. Jug Tavern Annual Tag & Bake Sale Fund Raiser will be held April 28th from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., 74 Revolutionary Road.  For additional information please check their website.

 

Greater Ossining Chamber of Commerce Meeting, Monday, April 30th, Ossining Community Center, 95 Broadway.  Networking starts at 7 PM. meeting starts at 7:30 PM. The program will be “Show Me the Money! How to borrow money for your business” a special program presented by the U.S. Small Business Administration and Citibank.  Speakers will be Larry Pontillo, U.S. S.B.A. Business Development Specialist and Christina O’Neill, Ossining Citibank Branch Manager.

Sing Sing Prison Presentation – Tuesday, May 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Ossining Public Library.  Community members are encouraged to attend to learn more about the project.

Ossining Historical Society 3rd Annual Community Picnic – Rain or Shine, June 16th 2:00 – 8:00 p.m., Ryder Park. Tickets must be purchased in advance and are $25.00 per person, children under 12 are $5.00 each. For additional information call the Historical Society at 941-0001. 

 

Annual Portuguese Festival is scheduled for June 16th, beginning at 5:00 p.m. Main Street, all are invited to attend to enjoy music, dancing and food at this cultural celebration.
