Ginsburg Development Corporation Named Preferred Developer – Main Street Site and Water Street/Old Public Works Site  The Village Board is pleased to announce that they have selected Ginsburg Development Corporation to act as Preferred Developer on these two downtown sites.  The Board has given GDC preliminary approval for the Main Street Site (WECANDOIT Lot) to include commercial space on the first floor with housing on the upper floors. The proposed plan for the Water Street/Old DPW site calls for construction of condominiums.     

 

Comprehensive Plan Public Meeting Scheduled for March 29 The Comprehensive Plan Committee invites all Ossining residents to participate in a public discussion about Ossining's economic development, parking, downtown re-development and waterfront re-development. The meeting will be held on Thursday, March 29, at 7:30 pm at the Ossining High School Cafeteria.  This is the third of four workshops for the Comprehensive Plan.  Contact the Village of Ossining Department of Planning at 914-762-6232 or email Vmonastra@ossbuilding.org with additional questions.

 

Summer Youth Opportunity Fair Seeks Employers.

The Village of Ossining has teamed up with the Town, School District, Library and Communities That Care to create a Summer Youth Opportunities Fair, to be held on March 24, 3-5:30 pm at the Community Center. Employers who can hire one or more Ossining teens for summer positions are encouraged to go to the Village website www.villageofossining.org for more information and an application. Unpaid internships are also welcome.

  

New Ossining Library Open House/Celebration Sunday will be March 25. Doors open at noon; Ribbon Cutting 1 p.m. Celebration ceremony 2 pm. There will be tours, music and light refreshments. Ice Skating at Veteran’s Park

The pond at Veteran’s Park is open for ice skating.  There will be a recreation attendant on duty and the hours of operation are Monday – Friday 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 12:00 – 7:00 p.m.

 

Dar Williams in Concert for Ossining MATTERS
Ossining MATTERS, Inc. presents singer/songwriter Dar Williams, in a concert to benefit the education foundation on Saturday, March 24, at the Ossining High School Auditorium, starting at 7 p.m. Students from Ossining High School will also perform.
Tickets are $32/General Admission, $15/Students & Seniors, and $125/Premium. Premium ticket holders are invited to attend a post-concert gala cocktail party and auction at a private club in Ossining. Ossining School/Community Walk Day is scheduled for Friday, May 4.  Special events are being planned for Claremont and AMD and many adult volunteers are needed, especially in the early (6:30-9 am!) hours to help with the walk-to-school.  This project is a community partnership of the school district, town, and village, and many other organizations in the community.  Contact co-chairs Dana Levenberg or Martha Dodge for more information about how to volunteer.  Go to the village website or the school district website for more information.

March is Women’s History Month The Greater Ossining Chamber of Commerce will host a Women in Business Forum on Monday, March 26th, networking begins at 7:00 p.m., meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Joseph G. Caputo Community Center, 95 Broadway.  The featured Member-Panelists are Roberta Gershner, MS, RD, consulting nutritionist and founder of My New Diet, Beylka Krupp, co-owner of Wobble Café, Cindy Penchina, owner of Hudson Fusion, website designers and graphic artists and Rena Wilhelm, owner of Rena Ann’s interior decorators, moderator:  Susan Lauer, co-owner of Aspire Consulting.
