Ossining Names Matt Galligan New Village Manager
Linda Abels to Retire in May

(April 13, 2007) Matthew Galligan will be appointed the new Ossining Village Manager by board resolution on Tuesday, April 17, Mayor Bill Hanauer announced today.

Galligan, the Town Manager of the Town of South Windsor, CT since 1996, was chosen after a 5 month, nationwide search, which included extensive public and staff input. Galligan will assume Village Manager duties in May, following the retirement of Linda Abels, the current Village Manager. Abels retires from a distinguished 20-plus year career of service to the Village of Ossining.

In addition to his current position, Galligan served as Manager of the Village of Mamaroneck and the Town of North Branford, CT. An ICMA-credentialed manager, Galligan also worked as an auditor for the New York State Department of Audit and Controls and Meyer, Greene & Degge, CPA.

"We are very pleased to be welcoming Mr. Galligan to the Village of Ossining," Mayor Hanauer commented, "Matt's creativity, management expertise, and solid financial background will make him a strong addition to Ossining's leadership team in this time of progress and change."

"It's a great time in Ossining," Trustee Mike Curry said, "Our ongoing infrastructure improvements,  economic revitalization, and planning processes will all benefit from Matt's extensive experience.   We are confident that Matt has the vision and ability to lead Ossining into our bright future."

Trustee Sue Donnelly concurs, saying, "I am especially impressed with Matt's experience in financial matters. He brings a solid history of innovative and practical leadership to this role. We are fortunate to have him at this critical moment of Ossining's history."

Galligan is expected to begin work in Ossining on May 14.
