Michael Curry Joins Ossining Village Board

(January 12, 2007) The Ossining Village Board of Trustees has chosen Michael Curry to fill the unexpired term of the trustee seat left open when Bill Hanauer was elected Mayor.

Curry is a heath care communications executive, and is partner and president of The Curry Rockefeller Group, located in Tarrytown, NY. He is a member of a long-established Ossining family and graduated from Ossining High School in 1978.

Mayor Bill Hanauer said, “We were delighted to have a large number of very well qualified applicants express interest in filling this seat, many of whom agreed to work in other village volunteer roles or serve on village committees if not chosen for the position.  In the end, we chose Mike because of his business background, his dedication to the Ossining community as expressed through his volunteer work, and for his communications expertise.”

Trustee Sue Donnelly agreed, “Mike brings a great deal of entrepreneurial skill and business acumen to the board.  He understands Ossining and is very interested in all of the services of the village.  It will be a pleasure to serve with him.”

Trustee Marlene Cheatham, a 1977 OHS graduate and a high school classmate of Curry’s concurred, saying, “I look forward to working with Mike and to having a colleague on the board who also has deep roots in Ossining.”

“Mike is an excellent complement to this board,” Trustee Catherine Borgia commented, “His commitment to Ossining, his marketing abilities, and his active civic life make him an excellent candidate for trustee. He will be an asset to the community.”

Curry will be sworn into the trustee position at the regular board meeting on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at the police court facility.  Members of the public are invited to attend the ceremony, which will be followed by a small reception.
