AMERICAN IDOL-TYPE SEARCH COMES TO OSSINING

 

Day of Entertainment Planned

The American Idol season may be over on television, but not in Ossining. At the 29th annual Village Fair to be held on Saturday, June 13th, the Ossining Star Search will be held for the first time. During the fair, there will be 3 stages of entertainment and the stage at Market Square will be the location of the Ossining Star Search.

 

“This will be an open call for anyone who wants to perform before a live audience”, stated Sue Jimney, the Fair’s Coordinator and the owner of M&M Embroidery in Ossining. “We will have judges and perhaps a prize for the winner,” she added.

 

Anyone interested in performing at the Ossining Star Search should contact Omar Herrera, the master of ceremonies of the Market Square stage and a 2008 Ossining High School graduate who is a performer and DJ himself. He can be reached at 914-318-4392 or at his website, www.omarjherrera.com. “We would like to make this a regular part of the Village Fair,” stated Mr. Herrera. “I am looking forward to a big crowd for the show which will begin at 3:30 PM at Market Square,” he added.

 

The Ossining Village Fair is a major event that draws thousands of visitors and is well recognized amongst craft vendors as the place to be. “In addition to the usual craft vendors, the Fair has lots of food and rides for the children. It is also a wonderful opportunity for local organizations to tell their story to the attendees”, stated Kay Hawley, the Administrator of the Greater Ossining Chamber of Commerce.  Visit the Chamber’s new website  and see which vendors are participating, entertainment guide and other activities going on in Ossining on June 13. 

 

According to Jerry Gershner, President of The Greater Ossining Chamber of Commerce, “this year we are fortunate to have as sponsors of the Fair such prominent organizations as Optimum/Cablevision, Open Door Family Medical Centers, Entergy Nuclear and the Ossining Police Athletic League. Their support has been instrumental in producing this event.”

 

The Ossining Village Fair takes place from 10 AM to 5 PM on Main Street just west of Route 9.
