To All Landlords of the Village of Ossining

To: Landlords of the Village of Ossining

From: The Village of Ossining Section 8 Rental Assistance Program

We invite you to participate as a Landlord with the Village of Ossining Section 8 Rental Assistance Program. This program was established as part of the Federal Housing Act in l976 and is operated by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through the Village of Ossining. It was designed to help needy families pay their rent. Eligible families and individuals receive rent subsidies called Housing Choice Vouchers. The Program provides subsidies based on a formula, which calculates the Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) share and the Tenant Share. The Tenant Share can range from 30-40% of their monthly adjusted income. The program pays the balance of the rent   (HAP) directly to the Landlord each month.

As a result of the interest and support of Landlords currently participating in the Program, over 70 new families were able to be assisted within the past l2 months. It is the goal of the program to reach as many applicants as possible with the funds available. The current subsidy levels have been increased substantially so that an applicant can secure housing at market rates and expand their housing opportunities.

If you have apartments that are vacant or about to become available, please contact the Section 8 office so that a recipient of the program may have the chance to rent it. The current waiting list includes many life-long residents of the community that wish to remain here. Your help in this area would be appreciated.
