Thank you to our community for your patience. This was been a very difficult storm recovery. We have our Highway crews working alongside Con Ed and communication companies. There are different types of Con Ed crews in our Town currently. "Cut and Clear" crews are attempting to detangle wires from damaged trees. They often do not have the capabilities to restore power, instead their job is safely prepare the lines for secondary "Restoration Crews." Power is slowly being restored across Ossining and Con Ed has given a "global estimated time of restoration" of Sunday. There are some areas that may still not be restored by then, but we are cautiously optimistic that many customers will be restored prior to Sunday.
As a reminder, crews in Westchester have come in from other states to help restore power, responding in our time of need. While we certainly feel Con Ed as a company should have better prepared for Isaias, we appreciate the people with us on the ground.
Like many of our residents, the Town and Village of Ossining Governments have been operating without internet service, meaning we have not been able to receive or send emails. Many sewer and pump stations are operating on emergency generators. However, we continue to be at your service, balancing staffing between their homes and the office to best serve you. The Ossining Community Center is running a charging station for anyone who needs to juice up the batteries on their laptops or cell phones. The building is also operating as a cooling center. These services are available for both Town and Village residents. Please bring your mask and remember to social distance.
Con Ed will be distributing dry ice todayfrom 12:30pm-9pm in two location: the Food Emporium parking lot (355 Downing Dr, Yorktown Heights) and New Rochelle City Hall (515 Hamilton Ave, New Rochelle in the rear parking lot).
As I mentioned, our Municipal Building and many satellite locations are not able to receive emails. If you need to contact any Town departments, please do not hesitate to call us:
