COVID-19 Guidance from Town and Village of Ossining (MESSAGE DATED 11/24/2020)
The Town and Village of Ossining continue to monitor health guidance issued from the CDC, State, and County levels. As you undoubtedly know, the United States is seeing a spike of COVID-19 cases. Locally, our numbers have increased significantly and Ossining was designated as a yellow zone by Governor Cuomo last week. As of today, there are 234 active positive cases in the Village of Ossining (+21 new cases), 25 in the Town of Ossining (+3 new cases), and 32 in the Village of Briarcliff Manor (+5 new cases). As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, we are increasingly concerned about the impact this holiday will have on the positivity rates in our community and across the Country.
The Town and Village of Ossining urge residents to follow guidance from the Centers of Disease Control and New York State Department of Health this Thanksgiving and limit celebrations to only those within your immediate household. We can all do our part to slow the spread of this virus.
Please be reminded that state-wide indoor and outdoor gatherings at private residents cannot exceed 10 people (if your household is larger than 10 people is not in itself considered a gathering), gyms and fitness centers are required to close from 10pm to 5am daily, and bars and restaurants, as well as any State Liquor Authority-licenses establishment, are required to close from 10pm to 5am daily.
We are working with our community partners to distribute masks and hand sanitizer to residents and businesses in Ossining. We are also working with our County and State partners to provide free rapid testing at the Open Door Family Medical Center at 165 Main Street in Ossining. Call (914) 995-7425 to make an appointment. We understand many of the slots for this testing are full. Those who wait to receive testing but – for whatever reason – are unable to receive a test will be contacted when additional testing slots are available. We are advocating for additional testing resources in the Ossining community, and will share more information as soon as it becomes available.
