The Ossining Recreation and Parks Department is excited to announce that they are “Going Green." We are protecting the environment, one park at a time, with electric lawn equipment, bought locally from Ossining Lawn Mower.

Our new battery-powered tools are more sustainable and do not rely on the use of fossil fuels. By not producing carbon emissions, we, in turn, will lower the Village’s carbon footprint. In addition, noise pollution emitted from these tools is reduced by nearly 50-70%.

We are rolling out this new equipment at Sparta Park, Snowden Park, Williams Street Tot Lot, Arthur Jones Park, and Richard Wishnie Park.

Sustainability, resilience, and conservation are goals key to the Village of Ossining," said Mayor Rika Levin. "Under my administration, we are implementing positive practical environmental practices not seen before in our Village. Transitioning our lawn maintenance equipment to electric power adds to our growing list of projects: Transitioning our fleet to electric or hybrid vehicles, planting trees, solarizing our operations center &the commuter parking lot, and hopefully adding electric bikes to this list. We are on our way to making Ossining the Greenest Village in the Country."
