Police Department

The principle mission of the Ossining Police Department is to preserve the rights of the people within our jurisdiction, prevent crime, protect persons and property, maintain public order, anticipate and respond to events that threaten public order, and detect and arrest those engaging in criminal conduct.

The Department will continue to enforce all local and state laws in a manner consistent with the public good while respecting the rights of all individuals. The Department shall perform this enforcement to the best of its ability, in a fair and impartial manner toward all.

It is the expressed policy of this department that police officers will use force only when necessary to protect themselves or another, secure the observance of law or restore order and public peace, remaining consistent with all federal, state and local laws.
