NorWest provides recreation and respite programs for people with disabilities in Northern Westchester County.  These programs are specifically designed for both youth and adults and are held at various schools and recreation centers.  Learning disabled, mentally retarded and developmentally disabled individuals are eligible for programs.  Season registration and initial intake applications are required. NorWest is partially funded by the Town of Cortlandt, Town of Yorktown, City of Peekskill and Village/Town of Ossining.  NorWest is also a Family Support Service Agency of New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disability.

NORWEST DAY  CAMP FOR SPECIAL
POPULATIONS
Is your child (age 5 to 21) in a local school district special education program? NorWest offers a local summer day camp for residents of Yorktown, Peekskill, Ossining, Cortlandt, Croton, Montrose, Buchanan and Verplank. Non-residents are welcome.
The camp is for 6 weeks starting on Tuesday, July 6 and ends on August 13. The fee is $390 and includes all activities.  Camp activities include adapted physical education, movement exploration, team sports, arts & crafts, music and instructional as well as recreational swimming. Lunch is not included.  Transportation from a central pickup site is available for an additional fee of $60. For information on registrations & counselor positions call NorWest at 737-4797. NorWest Day Camp complies with the regulations of the state and county Health Dept. and is inspected during the camp season. NorWest Day Camp is funded by a NYS OMRDD Family Support Service Grant.

Wheel Chair Basketball
Sundays from 12 to 2pm ,  at the Community Cenrter,  no charge, open to boys and girls ,  supervised by parents,  call 941-3189 for more information. Meet at the back entrance to the Community Center gym.
