The U.S. Census Bureau is looking to local municipalities to help recruit people for temporary employment.  Census 2010 is fast approaching!  A complete and accurate census count for our Village is extremely important.  Over $300 billion dollars in federal funding is allocated each year based on Census numbers.  The first major Census 2010 operation is Address Canvassing which begins in April.  This operation helps to confirm the Master Address File and make sure the 2010 Census Questionnaires are mailed to legitimate and existing addresses.  To complete this operation the census bureau needs to hire thousands of new employees.  These new hires will be stationed out of their homes and generally work in their community.  For more information on these jobs and information how to apply go to http://2010.census.gov/2010censusjobs/index.php.

The U.S. Census Bureau will be conducting canvassing to verify the addresses and physical locations of every housing unit in the United States.  The Westchester County Department of Planning, as an affiliate of the New York State Data Center, wishes to remind you that, beginning in April, the U.S. Census Bureau will be conducting canvassing to verify the addresses and physical locations of every housing unit in the United States.  Census employees will be visiting every housing unit, and will carry handheld computers to verify each address and its GPS coordinates.  All Census Bureau employees will wear official identification.
