Village Accepts Delivery of Two New Fire Apparatus
Monday, November 1st at 12:00 p.m.
(Ossining, NY, October 29, 2010) Mayor William R. Hanauer announced today that the official acceptance of delivery of apparatus for two new fire trucks will be held at Fire Headquarters, 21 State Street on Monday, November 1st at 12:00 p.m. One truck is a 1,500 gallons per minute (gpm) pumper which will be used by Monitor Hose; the other truck is an 100’ tower ladder truck which will be used by Washington Hook & Ladder. After the apparatus were approved for purchase last year production on the vehicles began, both vehicles were just recently received by the Village.
Ossining Fire Chief Peter Connolly said “Both apparatus will provide quality years of service to the residents of the Village of Ossining as well as neighboring communities, through the County’s Mutual Aid Plan. I’d like to congratulate the members of each of the two Apparatus Committees for their hard work in researching and designing of these vehicles. These vehicles are replacing apparatus that have each been in service for 20 years.”
The Ossining Fire Department, one of the largest volunteer departments in the State, is an all volunteer member Department comprised of more than 450 individuals. Currently headed by Chief Peter Connolly the Department operates six engine companies, two ladder companies and one fire police & rescue company.
