The 28th Annual Ossining Village Fair will be held this Saturday, June 14th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Main Street, Ossining. The fair will kick off with a parade at 9:30 a.m. which begins at the Joseph G. Caputo Community Center, 95 Broadway and proceeds up Broadway to Main Street to ending at Market Square for opening ceremonies. Sponsored by the Greater Ossining Chamber of Commerce the fair features entertainment, games, vendors and delicious food.
Register To Vote In Ossining! This weekend Saturday June 14th and Sunday June 15th, several organizations are banding together to host a massive non-partisan voter registration drive for the village of Ossining. Volunteers from the Girl Scouts, Vote For Change, VoteZip.org, and unaffiliated village volunteers will have a wide presence all across Ossining, ensuring that anyone who wishes to vote in the November Presidential election will have easy access to voter registration forms and help filling them out. Volunteers will be stationed at the Village Fair, the Ossining Public Library, and various marketplaces. There will also be several teams of volunteers canvassing select neighborhoods. If you are unable to register this weekend, voter registration forms and a deposit box will be available at the Ossining Public Library from now until the October 1.

-The Ossining Public Library will host a panel discussion Monday on “How a book become a book,” with four Westchester residents with a variety of experiences in publishing: New York Times book critic Janet Maslin, author Marilyn Johnson, publisher and editor Michael Pietsch and literary agent Richard Pine. -Come see the amazing exhibit "Thirty by Two" now on display at the Ossining library through the month of June. The husband and wife team of photographers: Mano Orel and Elinor Stecker-Orel present photographs that reveal the differences in their styles. Mano's landscapes and close ups of flowers have breathtaking realism, while Elinor's work shows delicate images of nature and architecture in an innovative style. And coming in July will be "New York in the '60's in Black & White" by photographer Dan Garbera.
-Michael Balcomb, Communications Director for the Universal Peace Federation's Middle East initiative will present a program on June 19 @ 7p.m. about the important and inspiring role that leaders and young people of all backgrounds are playing to bring about peace in the Middle East and what you can do to help. -On Saturday June 28 and Sunday, June 29 at 2 p.m. a series of one act plays sponsored by KAD, an area theatrical group, will be performed at the Ossining Public Library. The plays are comic pieces written by local playwrights. The performances at the library will be the Westchester premier after many of the shows appeared in NYC as part of the Manhattan Repertory Theatre's "NY Amazing Play Festival". The plays and their authors are: "Cinnamon Apple Pie" by Robert Zaslow, "The Staining of the Shrewd" by Mark Jacobs, "Cliché" by Keith Whalen, "A Woman Scorned" by Robert Zaslow and "No Freud Please" by Mark Jacobs. Free admission. It all takes place in the theater.

Westies Unite Storms Ossining Dog Park Westies Unite is holding a National Meet and Greet at the Ossining Dog Park on Sunday, July 13, 2008. Sunday’s events will include games and costume contests for its members as well as an auction benefiting a Westie rescue organization. Westies Unite, formed in January 2006, is an online group of over 1000 West Highland White Terriers and their owners. Westies Unite’s members also give back to the nation’s community of Westies. Every year Westies Unite makes a donation to Westie Rescue through an auction held at its national meet and greet. Westies Unite has chosen Westie Rescue of the Mid-Atlantic States, Inc. as the beneficiary of its auction at the Ossining Dog Park.
